It took us about 10hrs to drive from Provo to Orange County and we miraculously survived the drive ( we didn't melt in the 100+ degrees, we didn't collide into anyone even though the car had only one side-view mirror, and we didn't get sucked into the vortex that giant trucks create when they are driving super fast ^_^).
